As I mentioned on my first podcast episode series “5 Sneaky Mindsets that Keep You Stuck Without You Even Realizing It” I discussed how each of the 5 mindsets have opposing side that tend to exist in the same person. This can make you feel that you have a split personality. It’s an inner war that can defeat someone and prevent them from thriving in life if it is not addressed.
Awareness is critical if you want to clean up your internal “house” (mind). Outward success is not fully experienced without first addressing our internal “demons”.
Here are the 5 mindsets that keep people stuck, and their opposing twins:
|Mindset||Opposite Evil Twin|
Symptoms of an entitlement mindset are not always people who expect things to be handed to them without working for it; they are also people who expect things to be given to them because they work hard and therefore they think they deserve it. So one form of entitlement is someone who thinks that privileges are more of a right. The other form is more sneaky – they think that because they work hard, follow all the rules, and do what is expected of them that they DESERVE for things to be given to them rather than EARNING it.
Symptoms: They do not feel they have any value to give or do not feel worthy of success, gifts, attention/recognition, good things.
The fear of financial gain and prosperity. Feelings of guilt, shame, or embarrassment for having money.
Quick to get rid of their money so they don’t have to feel the guilt from having it (wreckless spending, giving away money). Generosity is beautiful – but some people give out of guilt for having money rather than for the joy of giving.
Greed/Spirit of Mammon (Love of money)
Symptoms: Greed, Crimes such as embezzlement or stealing, ill-treatment of people, unethical, idle wealth, stinginess, fear
The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Money is not the root of all evil – the LOVE of money is.
|Fear of Success
Most people who have fear of success have no clue that they have it. This is often rooted in issues of worthiness or thinking that they do not have anything of value – they might not understand the value they have, they might not truly believe that they’re worthy.
Don’t feed the negative thought, feed the good ones.
Fear of Failure
|Fear of failure
Symptoms: You don’t want to make a mistake. You don’t want to fail. You don’t want to be humiliated. You don’t want to go through the pain of something not working out when you give it your all. You don’t think you can handle that pain, so, you don’t try it at all.
Fear of success
|Fear of Rejection
There are many clues/ques that a person may struggle with a fear of rejection to the point that it holds them back from walking in abundance and a full life.
Self pity for being alone
Inability to receive correction or constructive feedback
Conforming to what you think other people want in order to feel accepted (chameleon).
Fear of confrontation or for asking what you want to avoid the pain of possible rejection
Taking someone’s “No” as a personal rejection (rather than that own individual’s decision to decline)
Just as much as the person desires to be accepted and approved by others they can also fight some pride issues.
Thinking you’re always right, going out of your way to prove your point, and refusing to hear other people’s side or viewpoints are symptoms of pride.
Additional symptoms: False humility – playing small and not accepting compliments for a job well done. Thinking less of yourself.
Humility is not thinking less of yourself. It’s thinking of yourself less.
If God says you are loveable, disagreeing with Him is false humility. You are putting your belief and opinion of yourself (being unlovable) as being higher than God’s opinion of you (being lovable and being loved).
