It’s tragic to see how many people have great products and programs that they poured their heart and soul into and CAN NOT sell it! They spend hours creating their great idea and then open their store…..and ZERO sales!
What they didn’t know, is that you actually don’t need to create your product or program BEFORE you sell it. This may come as a surprise to you. Of course, you need to have a great idea and an outline of your offer, but it doesn’t need to be in completion before you start promoting and selling it.
I teach you more in depth with how to take your great idea and market it before it’s complete in my Expedite My Career Transition Secrets Mastermind group.
For now, I’ll give you an overview example of how to do this. You can have an outline of a home study course, or workbook ready. You can start talking about your course or workbook in blogs, podcasts, videos, interviews or guest posts you do to get it known. The more you talk about it, the more people will want to buy it. Lisa Sasevich used this strategy in her workshops. From the stage, she sold her workbook and took pre-orders before her book was complete. She took the money and was able to pay for an editor and graphics designer to finish the product!
Before you get too attached to your program or product you first need to TEST the market. You need to see what the audience wants and is willing to pay for. Just because you wished something like what you created was available for you, doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone else feels the same way.
The simplest way to test your market is to do a survey. If you don’t have a big list, join groups where your target audience is and ask them to take your survey. Keep your survey to no more than 5 questions. Promote your survey on social media and even ask your network and friends to send it out to anyone in your target audience that you would like to reach and serve.
Here is an example of questions to ask:
Q1. What is your biggest challenge in……?
Q2. What would make it easier to……?
Q3. What are your top 3 questions about…..?
Q4. Any other questions or concerns?
Q5. If you have a specific question you would like answered, leave your name and email.
I use survey monkey for my surveys. Make sure you add question 5 if you are using the free service so you can get back to people who are asking you questions. Of course, this only helps you serve more people, builds trust and can potentially lead to a client.
Once you have clarity on what your market wants, you will need to make sure that you create captivating content that excites people and builds up anticipation to learn from you and work with you. In my Expedite My Career Transition Secrets Mastermind group, I take you through this process of knowing how to organize your big idea and create an irresistible program/product!
