Have you ever worked toward something and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel….yet the tunnel still seems really long? It wasn’t until I started this business 6 months ago that I really felt this way. The transition from day job to dream job can be quite challenging, yet so rewarding.
I have many virtual mentors that I love to follow- Seth Godin, Jon Acuff, Dan Miller, for example, that continually state that they did not get their success overnight. It was a lot of hard, consistent, diligent work over a long period of time. So many times we celebrate the success of great leaders or other’s accomplishments (as we should), but we don’t always know how much time and work it took them to get there. We remember President Lincoln for his victory of abolishing slavery- yet he tried for years and years to get that to pass. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he reached success in inventing electricity. We hear stories of celebrities like Katy Perry who were told they would never make it in the music industry. Each one of these people in these examples all had two things in common. Persistence and perseverance. Quitting was not an option for them. They had a dream in their heart and no matter what was thrown at them to derail them- they REFUSED to give up. Something happens when your purpose is revealed to you and your dream begins to come to pass. It’s a miraculous determination to get to the other side- regardless of the rough terrain or the storms that may blow through.
What are you determined to see come to pass regardless of all the obstacles and time it may take?
